Circle K & Ralphs #2 - Needed Milk!!

Yes.. after a trip to CVS and a trip to Ralphs I still forgot to get milk.. the thing that's been on my list for 2 days!!  I was driving by a Circle K liquor store and stopped in to see how much the milk was... I figured if it was $3.29 or less I'd get it there.  As I walk in, I spot tear pad coupons!!  I love tear pads!!  I finally made my way to the milk... $4.09!!  WHAT?!  I asked the lady "When did milk get so high?" as I grabbed more tear pad coupons... LOL... I told her "I'll try Ralphs, it may be cheaper"... she said "Oh no, not Ralphs, try Albertsons" (as if!.. she had no idea who she was talking to)... so I went to the small Ralphs near my house, and of course, there it was a gallon of milk for $2.69!!  $1.40 cheaper than Circle K.  Wowza!!  So, even though I had to make a couple pit stops (I didn't go out of my way much), I still made out because I got some tear pad coupons from Circle K and then when I went into the smaller Ralphs, they had the Optimum Wellness free magazines that the larger Ralphs didn't have (I grabbed 3)!!  The May/June issue has a $1 off Voskos yogurt coupon inside.  It was a very productive trip indeed!!

Ralphs - 10 FREE Baby Ruths!!

Across the parking lot from CVS is Ralphs... and I remembered the Nestle candy bars are on sale for 50¢ each and I was worried the sale may end before I could get there, so I ran in really quick with my (5) coupons to Save 50¢ when you buy 2 Nestle candy bars (from the 5/1 SS).  Ralphs doubles the 50¢ coupons so that would make the savings $1 off every 2!!  Well, they are on sale 50¢ each, so that makes them free!!

Now, Ralphs written coupon policy says they double ONE "LIKE" coupon.  Lately we've learned that it's been doubling more than one, and I hadn't tested more than 3 like coupons in one transaction... so I told the cashier (who still thought the limit was 1) if all 5 didn't double, we'd split the order into 2 transactions.. well, low & behold, all 5 coupons doubled and my order went from $9.90 for 10 Baby Ruth bars (Retail 99¢ each) to $0.00!!  Score!!  I got a smile out of her and I said "That's the way I like it!", gave my son a high-five and we walked out of there with 10 of my favorite candy bars!  SWEET... literally!!

Reader Johnna's Shopping Trip!!

So I ventured out today using Jen’s Couponing knowledge that she has passed on to me through Facebook and her blog http://savingschatter.blogspot.com/.  I use a lot of internet coupons that I print and then throw into a folder in my coupon system.  I cut out, organized and entered my coupons into Excel this morning. Then I looked on couponmom.com to see if there were any really good deals out today.  Finally I put together my rough list and headed out.

First stop was Albertsons. I had printed 5 coupons for Guerrero Tortilla’s (thanks to Jen’s blog!) and also Jose Ole 3 printable coupons.  I found on couponmom.com that Alberstons has Jose Ole on sale for 3.99 and there was also a coupon in the 4/17 paper.  So with my coupons in hand I got:

5 packages of Guerrero 10 ct flour tortillas @ 1.25 each - $1 off IPQ (I had 5) = $0.25 each

3 Jose Ole frozen pks @ 3.99 - $2 off IPQ (had 3) = $1.99 each

I went to Ralphs with the intention of getting their cereal deal that is going on right now.  After some consultation with Jennifer, I was ready!  I split my groceries into 3 separate orders to take advantage of the doubling of coupons.  Ralphs will only double the 1st of like coupons.  So I did my homework and split what I needed into 3 orders.

First Round:

Knudsen Sour Cream 16 oz. - $2, used .60 IPQ that doubled to $1 = $1

Newman's Own Lemonade - $1.99, used .50 IPQ that doubled to $1 = .99

Chiquita Apple Slices - Clearance $1.99, used $1 MQ = .99

Strawberries 16 oz. - On sale for .88 each

Luna Protein Bar - $1, used .50 IPQ = FREE

Farmland Bacon - 50% off - Cost $2.49, used .55 HMQ that doubled to $1 = $1.49

Oral-B Indicator Toothbrush - $1 each, used (2) $2/2 MQ & (2) $1 off 1 HMQ = 6 FREE

I didn't get this because I didn't have anymore coupons with me, but the Voskos yogurt is $1 and you can print out a coupon HERE.

A Day of Shopping

It's 2009!! Time to eat better and make better choices!! I cleaned out the fridge yesterday and made room for new stuff!! I haven't been on a large shopping trip in a long time... over a month. Can I whine now that I miss double coupons & my 10% savings at Vons?! No pictures, because I went to so many stores today, I put it all away as soon as I could!!
