Target Coupon Policy Changes

There are two new changes to Target’s Coupon Policy that you need to be aware off.

The first change:
BOGO coupons cannot be combined (i.e. you cannot use two BOGO coupons on two items and get both for free).
I have been asked often if this scenario was available and of course my answer was always no. It looks like Target was getting the same type of inquiries, so they decided to address it on its coupon policy.

The second change:
A second cents-off coupon of the same type cannot be redeemed towards the purchase price of the first item.
  • If a Target BOGO coupon is used, one additional manufacturer coupon maybe used on the first item.
  • If a Manufacturer BOGO coupon is used, one additional Target coupon may be used on the first item.
This is a very important change because in essence Target is saying that you can not use a second manufacturer coupon when you are using a BOGO manufacturer coupon. You can use a second Target coupon though. So this means that scenarios like the one below will not be allowed (the coupons mentioned are just for illustration purposes, they are not actual coupons)

NOT allowed:
Buy two Gillette Body wash $3.99
-Use one $2/1 Gillette Body wash coupon from 5/1 P&G insert
-PLUS Use one BOGO Gillette Body wash coupon from 5/1 P&G insert
=Pay $1.99 for two after coupons
BUT you can do:
Buy two Gillette Body wash $3.99
-Use one $2/1 Gillette Body wash TARGET coupon from homemailer
-PLUS Use one BOGO Gillette Body wash coupon from 5/1 P&G insert
=Pay $1.99 for two after coupons
OR you can also do:
Buy two Gillette Body wash $3.99
-Use one $2/1 Gillette Body wash coupon from 5/1 P&G insert
-PLUS Use one BOGO Gillette Body wash TARGET coupon from homemaile
=Pay $1.99 for two after coupons

Saturday Full of Savings!!

I had lots of places to go on Saturday. I try to get my shopping trips done on days when I don't have my son... so this day was packed!! Of course, detours always get taken... I woke up Saturday morning and stumbled across a HOT deal on Sketchers boys shoes. It was so hot, I didn't think it would work. They were telling me I could get these Sketcher shoes that regularly sell for $50 for $2.10!!

They didn't have any sizes smaller than 6.5 in boys, but I decided to try to order them anyway, even though my son only wears size 2.5!!  LOL... I'm all about planning ahead!!  The site was super slow as I expected & I tried to submit my order 4-5 times.  I figured, I'll probably end up with 5 pairs or none!  It seemed to keep timing out during my order submission process, so I finally gave up.

Well, imagine my surprise when I came home later that afternoon and found this in my email inbox:

SWEET!!  It seemed to work and it looks like I didn't end up with multiple orders.  Haha!  I guess we'll see if they actually ship them or cancel my order in the next couple days.

I had scheduled a haircut at Lu Ross Academy at 12pm... but I knew it was 10:45am, and I didn't have time to squeeze in a shopping trip after, and I was meeting my mom for a Mother's Day lunch at 2pm... so I decided to chance it and just show up at 11am hoping they could get me in earlier... and they did!!  Lu Ross Academy is a beauty school, and the students cut your hair.. so it's CHEAP!!  Normally $8 for a wash, cut & blow dry, but of course, I even had a coupon off that price (from the back of the Vons on Borchard receipt), so my haircut cost $7 plus tip.  You could even get just a cut for $5 on Wed, Thurs or Fri evenings from 5pm-6:30pm with the coupon here from www.bogopod.com.  Actually I think these are their normal prices, but they are just using a coupon to advertise it.  I've been there 3 times myself and took my son there also.

Since I finished up with my hair at 1pm... I had an hour to kill and was nearby Rite-Aid & Vons... so off to Rite-Aid I went...
Rite-Aid Trip - $70.65 value for $0.22+tax

(2) Lays chips on sale for $2.79 ea., I used (2) different $1 Rite-Aid Video Values (VV) coupons, and $2 off 2 Lays MQ from 5/1 = .79 ea.

(2) Biore Face Products that reduced down to $7.64 each with the 10% off coupon I got when I hit 250 Wellness Points, I used a B1G1F MQ = $7.64 for both, but I earned $5 +UP reward for buying 2 Biore products = $2.64 for 2

(1) Breathe Right Strips, on sale for $3.99, but I used the free Rite-Aid coupon from here (NLA), and that coupon actually took off $5.99, PLUS it also gave me $1 +UP reward for buying that product = $3 MM!!
(4) Tylenol Precise Pain Products on sale for $5 each, and I had (4) $5 IPQ's = all (4) free!!  (There is a $5 coupon in the 5/8 insert)

(6) Hershey's Dark Chocolate Bars, on sale Buy 1 Get 1 Free, and I used (3) B1G1F MQ's from the 5/1 inserts and got all (6) free!!

I also used a $3 off $15 Rite-Aid coupon that I got for filling out a survey from the bottom of a prior receipt & $4 in +UP Rewards that I rolled over into this order... so my total was 22¢ plus tax and I ended up receiving $6 more in +UP Rewards.. so this was a Money maker trip in the end!!

I still had 20 minutes before I was to meet my mom, so I ran in to Vons next door to see what I could find that wasn't perishable... while I was shopping I ran into my mom!  (Uh, hello!?.. talk about odd... This is a store I go into maybe 2-3 times a year!  LOL.. anyway, I told her I'd meet her in 20 minutes at the lunch place)

VONS Trip - $15.63 value for $1.82 OOP

(1) Diet Cherry Pepsi 2L, on sale for .88, I had a .50 HMQ that doubled to .88 off = FREE + CRV

(2) Powerade Zero, on sale for .79 each, I used a B1G1F IPQ = .79 + CRV for 2

(1) Starkist Chunk Light Tuna, on sale for $1, and I used a .50 IPQ that doubled = FREE

(1) Haribo Gummi Bears on sale for $1, and I had a .30 IPQ that doubled to .60 off = .40

(1) Uncle Ben's Ready Rice, on sale for $2, and I used a FREE HMQ that I received in the mail = FREE

(1) Clorox Toilet Bowl Cleaner, on sale for $1.49 with Store Q, and I used $1 IPQ = .49

Don't try to do the math... but I paid $1.82 OOP including tax & CRV for the above stuff

Finally it was off to Aloha Steakhouse to have lunch with my mom for Mother's Day

Aloha Steakhouse Lunch - FREE

There was so much on the menu to choose from!  The lunch prices at Aloha Steakhouse are much more reasonable that the dinner prices.  My mom had told me that before, but I was finally seeing it for myself.  I had received a $100 gift card at Christmas, and I saved it for a special occasion.  So I wanted to treat my mom to whatever she wanted on the menu.  Between the both of us, including drinks & desserts we only used $42 (including tip!!)  It was delicious and I loved spending 2 hours talking to my mom.  Free lovely lunch for us, my favorite kind!!  I still have $58 left for another special occasion.

I left lunch and headed to the mall... because I had a $10 off $10 JC Penney coupon expiring on 5/8 and Lane Bryant was also having a sale to save 40% off anything in the store until 5/8.

JC Penney Trip - $49.98 Value for $4.96+tax

I can't believe I stumbled upon these pants on the clearance rack!!  My son is growing like a weed, and he loves these pants that are elastic waist & zip-off knees.  These pants were regularly $29.99, on clearance for $4.97.  Let me tell you, I couldn't say "SOLD" fast enough.  I asked if there were more!  LOL  He is barely wearing a size 10, and these are size 10/12, so a little big, but will be perfect for when school starts in the fall!!

The shorts were regularly $19.99 on sale for $7.99.

After my $10 coupon, I paid $4.96 + tax... Happy Me!!

Lane Bryant Trip - $39.99 Value for FREE

Then I walked down to Lane Bryant to see what they had.  I knew almost everything in the store was 40% off the regular prices (which is pretty high), so I looked around and found a couple things to try on & stumbled across some bathing suits.... what a struggle THAT was in the dressing room.  I never knew I could work up a sweat trying to get a new bathing suit on.  Needless to say, I did NOT like the way any of them looked and they all went back on the rack.

I had a $50 Lane Bryant gift card that I earned from my My Points burning a hole in my purse.... but I only ended up getting these lounge pants.

Regularly $39.99, marked down to $29.99, then the 40% came off the $29.99 = $17.99

I used my gift card and paid ZERO.. and I still have $30.52 left on my card.  I get "Save $25 off $75" coupons all the time, so I'll be able to get in on another deal soon enough!!

While I was at the mall, I did my Target shopping trip too (trying to save on gas & plan all my trips out!!)

Target Trip - $56.85 Value for $13.05

I broke this trip into 2 transactions, because the Smart Ones deal was producing a $5 Target gift card when you bought 10, and the John Frieda Haircolor deal was producing a $5 gift card when you bought 2... so I wanted to separate them to make sure I could roll at least one of the $5 gift cards into the 2nd transaction.

Transaction #1
I got (10) Weight Watchers Smart Ones meals on sale for $1.89 ea., I used $4 off 10 IPQ, saved an additional 50¢ for using my Target Debit REDcard, and paid $14.40 OOP and earned $5 gift card = $9.40

Transaction #2 -
(1) Magnum Ice Cream bars on sale for $3.29, I used $1 TQ & $1 IPQ = $1.29
(1) Gallon of milk $2.79
(1) Suave conditioner, on sale for .87, I used .75 TQ = .12
(2) John Frieda Hair Color, $11.99 each, I used (2) $5 MQ on each of them & I had (2) different Target coupons to save $5 = $3.98 total for both boxes & I earned $5 gift card = $1.02 MM
The total for Transaction #2 after tax & 16¢ REDcard savings was $8.65, and I used the $5 gift card I received in Transaction #1, then paid my $3.65.  I still have a $5 Target gift card to use on my next visit!!

After that, I finally went home....

Quick Target Trip

I ran into Target mainly hoping they'd have the Moms Best Oatmeal or Kashi cereal cups, but they didn't.. so I got some other goodies!!
  • Kandoo Wipes on sale for $1.42 ea., used (3) $1 MQ's = 42¢ each
  • Motrin 20 ct. $3.24 ea., used $6 off 2 IPQ = 24¢ ea.
  • Orbit Gum .99, used .75 Target Coupon = 24¢
  • Wrigley's 5 Gum 1.29 ea., used (1) $1 off 2 IPQ & $1 off 2 TQ = 29¢ ea.
  • Carefree Pantiliners .99, used TQ to get them for 1¢
  • Degree Men's Deodorant on sale for $2.04, used $1 MQ & $1 TQ = 4¢
Looks like I spent  $2.61 + tax for $17+ worth of products!!

Shopping with Target Coupons

What do you think is going on above??  Well... Target coupon matching of course!!  Did you know you can combine a manufacturer's coupon with a Target Coupon and use BOTH when buying ONE item at Target?!  Yes, you can!!  It's in the Target Coupon Policy.  ( "We'll accept one Target coupon and one manufacturer coupon for the same item, unless either coupon prohibits it.")  That's why you need to make sure you carry a copy of the store policy with you when you shop this way, because not all of the cashiers understand this coupon policy and you may need to ask to speak to the manager... or just whip out your coupon policy!!  No need to be rude about it... they are still learning.

Where to find Target Coupons:
Besides clicking on the link on the left-side of this blog, you can find the Target coupons by going to the Target.com website and scrolling ALL THE WAY DOWN to the bottom, you will find the word COUPONS in small print.. click on it & it will take you to the Printable Coupon page.  NOT ALL of the coupons are Target coupons.  They mix manufacturer's coupons in with the Target coupons and sometimes it's hard to tell which are Target coupons & which are manufacturer's coupons.  A dead give away is if there is RED writing under the coupon and it mentions a Target online code, then it will print out as a Target coupon... but another thing I like about these coupons is... the manufacturer's coupons rarely say DO NOT DOUBLE on them... which means when I use these manufacturer's coupons at Vons or Ralphs, they will double!!  Because many times, the General Mills & Betty Crocker product coupons that you print directly from the General Mills & Betty Crocker website says DO NOT DOUBLE on them... which can be bad for us when we get a stickler cashier who see's that when they are scanning the coupons at checkout!!  You can print two of each coupon from the Target.com website.  I recommend printing the ones you can use or the REALLY good ones as soon as you see them, because sometimes they disappear and won't be there when you go back.  Many coupons have a set print limit and when the limit is hit "POOF", they are gone.

All of the Target Coupons say "Limit one per transaction".  So if you wanted to use 2 of the same Target coupons, you would need to have them rung up separately.

As a matter of fact, you can match a store coupon with a manufacturer's coupon this at most stores around here (Vons, Ralphs, Target, CVS, Rite-Aid).
  • Vons: In-ad coupon or home-mailer Vons coupon with a manufacturer's coupon
  • Ralphs: In-ad coupon or home-mailer Ralphs coupon with a manufacturer's coupon
  • CVS: Store coupons printed from the "Red Magic Coupon Machine" with a MQ
  • Rite-Aid: In-ad coupon and/or online Video Values coupon with a manufacturer's coupon

Let's go through some examples below:

(Above) - You can see a Target Web Coupon for 20% off select Fisher Price infant toys.  It's important to read the fine print on the Target coupon to make sure you are buying the correct item.  There happened to be some printable Manufacturer's Coupons for the same exact toys..and at certain Target stores, some of these toys were on sale or on clearance!!  Wowza!!

Using the Target coupon & the Race Car coupon:
I found one of these Little Zoomers Shake & Crawl Racers on clearance for $15.99 (Reg. $24.99)
Hand them the Target coupon first and it'll take $3.20 off, then hand them the Manufacturer's Coupon to save another $5 off!!  That makes the cost $7.79 for a $24.99 toy!!!  What a great gift.  Buy & save for a future gift!

(Above) - I have matched a Target Coupon to save $1 off a U-Kotex product with a Manufacturer's Coupon to save $1 off the same product.  You can combine BOTH of these items to save $2 off one item.  If you save these and wait for a sale, then you may get the product free... well, that's the idea.  Unless you need the product NOW, wait to see if it goes on sale.  Make sure to watch expiration dates!!

(Above) - With the above example, you can see that buy combining this Target Coupon (TQ) with the Manufacturer's Coupon (MQ), that you would save $3.50 off one tube of Colgate ProClinical toothpaste.  The above TQ was one that came out of the Sunday coupon inserts.

(Above) - By combining the $2 Internet Printable Coupon (IPQ) and the $2 TQ above, you can save a total of $4 off one Revlon Beauty Tool.  I get free clippers & nail files all the time by doing this.  Usually Revlon products go on sale every month, so you can find a great deal or a freebie.  Always think "stocking stuffer" for these types of items.

(Above) - By combining the $2 TQ with the $1 MQ, you would save $3 off one package of disposable Schick Quattro for Women razors!!

(Above) - By combining the $1 TQ with the $1 IPQ, you can save $2 off one Neutrogena Naturals product.  The lip balms sell for $2.99, so you would pay $0.99!!

(Above) - When new medications hit the market, always look for high-value coupons and other sales & offers where you can get those new medications free!!  Love those deals!!  Always watch the wording on the coupons... the best ones are the ones that say "Save $xx off ANY size", because usually by purchasing the smaller package you can get a better deal.  In the case of the above coupons, by combining this $5 MQ with the $1 TQ, you would save $6 off one Allegra Children's Allergy product... GREAT DEAL!!

(Above) - Notice that the $5 IPQ mentions 24 ct. or larger while the $2 TQ mentions 10 ct. or larger.  Because the IPQ has a higher count, you need to buy the larger count product in order to be able to use both of these coupons towards the one product... but you would still be saving $7 off this item.  Great savings if this is a product you need!!

(Above) - I find Halls cough drops on sale for $1 all the time!!  By combining the .50 cent TQ with the .50 cent MQ, you would save $1 off one package of Halls cough drops 25 ct. or larger.  Can you say FREE?

A Friday on the Town

My son wasn't in school today & I took the day off work.  After relaxing all morning, it was time for his doctor appt, so we finally made it out on the town.  I also wanted to go see if The Disney Store had any of the reusable shopping bags left.  All you had to do was bring in 5 plastic shopping bags and you'd get a free reusable shopping bag!  Cool!  Since I wanted to go back out to CVS & a second trip to Target, we made it a day.

Lunch at Carls Jr. for $3.00 with the 2 Famous Star burgers for $3 Q

CVS - Saved $40.50, Spent $0.69 + tax, Earned $1.00 ECB (Extra Care Buck)
I got:
  • 6 Reach Toothbrushes (I finally found a local CVS that carried the singles!!) - On sale for $1, had coupons to cover $5.50 of the $6
  • 1 Aquafresh Kids Toothbrush - On sale for $1, used $1 4/17 MQ
  • 1 Reach Dental Floss - On sale for $1, used $1 IPQ
  • 4 Snickers Eggs - On sale for .50 ea., used (2) $1/2 IPQ's
  • Revlon Toe Clippers - $4.19, used a $2 IPQ & $2 CVS Q from the red "Magic Coupon Machine"
After the sale prices & using coupons, my total was $0.69+tax.  I earned $1 ECB for using my reusable bag CVS Green Tag.  I always use the same shopping bag when I shop at CVS, and I make sure they scan my Green Tag.  After every 4 scans, I earn $1 ECB. You can see the tag on my green CVS shopping bag in the photo.

Then we went to The Disney Store to see if they had any reusable bags left - THEY DID!!  Yippee!!
So we got our free bag.  Value $2.50.  Isn't it cute??

Then for our final trip to Target for some duplicates of my purchases last night.  Target printable coupons state "Limit One Per Transaction".. so sometimes I make multiple trips.  But since I'm organized from Trip #1, going back again is usually not a problem.  I even got the same cashier - super coupon friendly!!  I think his name is Josh.
Target - Saved $13.16, Spent $0.88 + tax
I got:
  • (3) Scotch Tape - $1.29, used (3) $1 IPQ's (We can never have enough tape here!!)
  • (1) Degree Men's deodorant - $2.04, used $1 MQ & $1 TQ
  • (1) Allegra Allergy Medicine 5ct. - $6.78, used $5 MQ & $2 TQ
  • (1) Orbit Gum - .99, used .75 TQ (For my son's good behavior.. I can handle .24 gum!)
  • I also earned .05 credit for using my own reusable shopping bag (The new Disney one!)  LOL
So, after our running around, we got $62+ in products (including lunch) and only spent $4.57+tax, plus I have $1 ECB to use at CVS on my next visit!!

That was... until we got to the gas station....

TARGET - TANGLED Blu-Ray/DVD Combo $12.99

1. Click here and use coupon code HAIR

2. Print the $5 coupon

3. Go to your local Target and find the Blu-Ray/DVD combo for $17.99

4. Apply the $5 coupon = $12.99!!

FREE Airwick Lumin Air at Target

Target has the Airwick Lumin Air priced at $4.99. Use the $5 off one coupon on this past Sunday's insert (12/7) to get it FREE. You can also use this internet printable coupon for $3 off one. These are similar to the Glade Wisp Flameless candle but the container is a cylinder.

Another Target Deal:
Target has the following Gift Card promotion going on this week: Buy five Keebler Club crackers or Cheez-Its or Fudge Stripe cookies, selected others, $2.50 each and get a $5 Gift Card. Use this $1/1 off any Keebler cookie internet printable and get five packs for $2.50 or $0.50 each after coupons and gift card. Hopefully the promotion also includes Sandies cookies since this link also prints a $1 off Sandies cookies. If you have problems printing the coupon on Firefox try Internet Explorer.

Bakugan Battle Arena - 50% off

I'd been flip-flopping on whether I was going to get the Bakugan Battle Arena for Devin this year. He wanted it, but I really didn't want to spend $29.99 on it, just for the arena!! Then I saw it on sale at Target this week (until 11/22) for $19.99. $10 off is pretty good, because the cheapest I'd seen it was $24.99 somewhere else. But I still wasn't sold yet... then in the Target Toy Catalog that we got in the Sunday newspaper about 2 weeks ago, there is a $5 off coupon for it!! Well, that was the deciding factor for me!!... I was able to get it for only $14.99 - that's 50% off the regular price. He'll be thrilled!!

Now, I need to find some Bakugan balls!! LOL - LMK if you see a good deal!!
